Haha !, nice one Claudio !

Of course you are right, but let's say that all your rain and snow parameters are assumed to be optimal. So, it's dry (well, it sure isn't overhere today ...).
I only want to say that in order to have "speed" one must met the conditions for it, and IMHO the question was : is the x secs for so few files normal. Well, it isn't, but of course, if I test this on my W95 machine without rebooting it for 10 days, it is, and I have my disk full because of the swapfile. Note : I didn't reboot my PC in advance, but I have W2K (IMO) not subject to such stupidness. However, of course you are right.

So again, I only tried to present my figures, which are in an optimized environment, with btw only one physical disk in the server (see other message) because one burned down the other day. But, this doesn't matter since I claimed that all was in the server's cache anyhow. So yes, that difficult it is indeed.
BTW, in my environment the 100Mbit is the bottleneck. Make it GH network, and the server's processor will be. Etc etc etc.

Maybe I just met someone who recognizes this all ... ;))

>>With our 1GH server, 950Mhz client, 100Mbit network, this opens in (about) 1.267 secs, but knowing that the according diskblocks to load will already have been cached at the server (this can't be cached at the client !). This is for the Dos-app and the Win app just the same (so Win is not faster as I stated earlier, but for sure not more slow too).
