A client wants users to be able to make FedEx-type status queries against VFP data. This is to be read-only at this point, no updates required.

- Clients are to be browsers only (no fat clients)
- Clients must log in
- Web server will be Apache on Linux
- A W2K Pro or Server box will be available to run any required VFP7 app/component or anything else needed that runs on Win32

- Bonus points for an architecture that can paint decent-looking forms on the client browser.

I'm a newbie to Web development. What are the options? Is Web Connect a good choice in this scenario - I didn't find an obvious answer on the web site white papers.

All opinions appreciated.
