>But you often do. I have seen many of your messages where you really do like to pick up on spelling mistakes despite the fact that you make quite a few of your own. Clearly, Steve's error was a typo as opposed to a spelling mistake, whereas you just keep on making the same mistake, frankly speaking, of course <s>.

Alright...point taken. Can we move on???

What's happened with you John? I almost found myself agreeing with everything you said - the new, agreeable JVP. For a while, you were back in Fox Fold, just about the time VFP7 released after espousing the virtues of VB6 for some time, that was until MS pulled the rug from under the VB crowd. You were .NET sceptical,
>

I have issues with the message that is being conveyed to the Fox Community. I was .NET skeptical during Beta 1. When Beta 2 rolled around, it was a different product. At that point, I saw the light after doing to some R and D on my own.

As for the agreeable JVP, I guess as long as I am preaching the party line, I am agreeable... And as you say, if I am not preaching the party line, I cannot be in the Fox Fold... Oh well... Que Sera Sera...

>"COM works, its good, I know it".
>".NET - technology for technology sake"

Generalizations - but at one point, I did say these things. As always, I have the absolute right to change my mind when circumstances change.

>Then, you did your 2 day .NET course and wham, you have now left Fox Fold yet again and have re-established your VB6 like stance only this time, the "standard" you exalt is .NET - a somewhat quick hop onto the next horse. Therein, IMHO, lies the problem with you and your public.
>

I think this is unfounded. You choose to see things as black and white, I am either in or out. I am not saying anything all that different than I have said for 3 years or so...

>
At the moment, I am wading through a C# book and I am generally quite optimistic about what is going on. However, I love the Fox too. In fact, when I was a programming "nipper", you (as "Dr. Foxpro") were my hero. "Dr DotNet" however, just doesn't quite have the same ring to it.
>

I was your hero????? I appreciate the fact that you appreciated the work. Too bad a certain editor at FoxTalk did not have the same appreciation..< s >.. In any case, I have no desire to be Dr. Dot Net...< bg >...

>
I guess you just make the waves you ride more obvious than most. Whilst the future may well be .NET from an MS perspective, overall, there is plenty of scope for a vibrant healthy Fox.
>

The waves I make are more obvious because I say what a lot of people think - but don't want to say it. As for a vibrant healthy Fox - that may be your interpretation. As to how it reflects in reality, in the world at large, I don't think your perception carries...

Finally (for now), give Ken a break. Just for me? After your outburst of a couple of days ago, the one that was as subtle as an air raid, I just loved Ken's response. "Thanks for the feedback". There was just nothing more you could say to that.
>

It is more like what could he (Ken) say to me...My point was made. You do recall when I called Ken on the carpet with respect to the OLE DB Provider issue. It was not too long after that the Ricardo (Ken's boss) finally posted a clear/coherent - non-BS response. I still disagreed with the reasoning - but I respected the fact that he (Ricardo) did not come up here and spoon feed pablum that which is marketing rhetoric. The Fox community deserves better. And, if I can deliver it - even if it takes a crow bar, I will do so.

You call what I said an outburst. I call it responding to a public statement with a few bullet points in support of my position, a position shared by a lot of people apparently.

Look, I think Ken is an OK guy. As he has told me on numerous occasions - it is business, nothing should be taken personally. The same goes for me. However, I suspect that he, as well as some on the team do in fact take what I say to heart. The fact is, Ken and the team do not walk on water. Their actions are subject to scrutiny - just like anybody else.

I am sorry if my position puts a damper on your feel-good parade..

In case you have not noticed, more people than not agree with what I have said. As for giving Ken a break, he is in the public forum. I am afraid that as long as he makes public statements, they will be subjected to scrutiny. No offense, but I am not going to back off for you or anybody else...

>I know you don't really mean it <g>.

I know you put a < g > at the end - so I don't know if you are kidding. Trust me when I tell you, I mean everything I say - 100%.
