I used to teach engineering physics in college. I saw schemes like these almost daily. Most exhibit some ignorance of the three laws of thermodynamics, or are premised on a misunderstanding of math (division by variable that could become zero was the major gaff.) But, Physics is in a real state of flux these days because the Standard Model is not accounting for all the facts being observed in current neutrino experiements, etc...
