Jerry;

How well I remember the above subject from my college days in electronics engineering, and then on to fluid mechanics! :) Dr. Frank Paxton, where are you today?

Dr. Paxton had a twelve-inch long eraser, which he held in his left hand and in front of him, about two feet from his right hand. He would write with the right hand and erase with the left with one motion, always maintaining the 24 inch seperation between chaulk and eraser while he walked towards his right hand. He could walk very fast while writing! If you were not quick - too bad! Missed formulas were chaulk dust on the floor!

I swear that Dr. Paxton could convert apples to oranges! He did such amazing things with out question, when it came to conversions. I have never seen or experienced his match! Everyone was in a state of shock after one of his classes.

Dr. Paxton told us he took an advanced class in theoretical math at U.C. Berkeley, from a famous Italian (Nobel Price winner – we had nine on campus during the 1960’s). Dr. Paxton said he was late to class (1200 students and five assistants) and as he descended the stairs of the class room the teacher stated, “As we approach twice infinity…, Dr. Paxton said, “I stopped, turned around and left that class, with the realization that I did not belong there”!

>I used to teach engineering physics in college. I saw schemes like these almost daily. Most exhibit some ignorance of the three laws of thermodynamics, or are premised on a misunderstanding of math (division by variable that could become zero was the major gaff.) Here is a good discussion of the topic:

>But, Physics is in a real state of flux these days because the Standard Model is not accounting for all the facts being observed in current neutrino experiements, etc...
