Alexander;

I would love to see information about different regions of countries and different countries comparing income and cost of living. Such things truly interest me. I could throw out numbers about living here in Silicon Valley but they do not reflect any other area of the United States.

There are people making $50,000 who are employed full time and are homeless in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is not a joke! Working at McDonalds and other such places pays about $13,000 a year. How do these people live? Rent for a two bedroom apartment in Cupertino (about ½ mile from me) is $2800 a month and 3 bed room is $3800 a month.

You can go 50 miles east to the Central Valley of California and see people very poor with high unemployment. Each of our 50 states is different and areas within those states vary in so many ways.

>Not very far, but living cost here much lower than in US. A loaf of bread 0.20, a litre of milk - 0.30 (sterilized - 0.90). A rent may be about 15USD. But again, it's very depends on region.

>>But how far does 300USD go in Russia compared to the US? In the US, you would literally STARVE on that salary considering even a loaf of bread costs roughly 1.29-3.99 a loaf (depending on type of bread and where you buy it). It can actually be more in specialty shops. What does a typical carton of milk cost there (or a typical weekly amount of milk)? 300USD would not even pay the rent! (Nor would it even come close in most places in the US).
