That's for sure. I had a professor, who used the same book year after year...and would read directly from the textbook. You would sit in class with your yellow marker. He would say something like "Page 133, right hand column, second paragraph". He would then read the paragraph outloud and the students would highlight it, then write his comments in the margin of the book. A friend of mine was taking the class, the same class his brother had taken the year before. Guess what... same paragraphs were read.. same comments were made. My friend decided to show up only for tests.

This guy's tests were another thing. Always 10 questions, 10 points each. One day, I challenged the answer I put down. I had the correct meaning, but different words. His comment was that we needed it word for word because he'd said it about 30 times in class. When I asked for a show of hands who in the class got it correct, the only person who did, was his wife.

I have other stories about him, but I'll save them for another day.

The best college professor I had understood the difference between academia and the real world. He once told me, "You go to college for 4 or 5 years and then they stamp BS on your back and send out into the world." *g*
