>mmmm.... I'm running the latest stable build for Mozilla, as I type, and it is very fast. Netscape 6.2, on the other hand, is slloooowww. ??? I just finished removing it. But, my crossweaver Quicktime is now broken, so I'll have to reinstall it. It also includes Macromedia's Flash plugin, which is what I use.

Mozilla 0.9.4 was significantly slower than 0.9.5, I'm sure 0.9.6 and 0.9.7 have continued the trend. It wasn't until 0.9.5 that they started to optimize performance. On my system Win2k system, Netscape 6.21 (0.9.4) is slow to load and slow to open a new window but downloads and renders quickly. Netscape may be doing something hokey on load, I know that the older versions used DDE to coordinate with any previously running instances. Another thing is that in Mozilla, the menus and frames are actually coded in JavaScript (see the .js files.) I think that at 0.9.5 they greatly enhanced the JavaScript interpreter performance. On Linux, I just use Konqeror.
