I ran into a problem similiar to this about 6 months back. Since I didn't have time to debug the problem then, I simply checked what version of windows was running(because we have 95,98,NT,W2K mixed).

If it was W2k, the app runs a bat file that contains net use commands.

This may not help, but I'm glad that you guys are trying to solve this.
