Christof;

Boy - that was 100 times less than 2 cents worth! A story about 2 cents.

I work in the automotive industry, which is famous for “pinching pennies”. One example from a 1968 report dealt with the Big Three and brake shoes. If brake shoes were glued instead of riveted, $ 0.01 would be saved per pair of shoes or $ 0.02 per car. In the report it also discussed how many people die each year because the glue used to hold the brake pad failed. This was not a recorded problem with riveted brake shoes. The consensus and corporate decision was to use glued brake shoes and risk law suits do to wrongful deaths.

So you see, those measly $ 0.02 can add up and have a great meaning. It can fuel an entire industry as well as the legal profession and other industries.
