I don't think his problem had to do with versioning, or anything like that. Looks like it was about installing the framework before IIS, so IIS didn't have all the file types set up to pass off to ASP.NET. Thats why the uninstall reinstall caught the ASP.NET setup on the second time around. Thats my theory any ways.
