The Olympics featured women's bobsleigh (or can I say 'bobsledding') for he first time.
Our politically-correct CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corp.) wnet to some length the explain that they had checked with several officials and athletes from the sport before using the term "brakeman" to describe one of the competitors of any sleigh (or is it sled?).

This is the same outfit that no longer calls fishermen fishermen, but now refers to them as "fishers". And when this first came about it was to substitute for another word - "lobstermen". It appeared that they couldn't get 'sanction' for 'lobsterwomen' or 'lobsterperson' so they simply dropped the whole trade from their vocabulary, calling them "fishers" instead.
