I think it's a much better interface to let the client choose what they want to print in the context of the data itself. Give them a selection criteria that lets them specify that they want the transactions that occurred between 1/17/02 and 2/7/02. Instead of having them wade through pages and pages of a report to find out that pages 24.5 through 37.25 contain the actual date range they are interested in.
