GOTCHA!! I was born in Houston, raised in California... ironically - Livermore, California... LOL.. did a lot of years in the US Army, that's how I found NZ... love it here...

Weather is good here... been a mild summer to break a drought we had for a few years... but today is 21C and looking good...

>Not corny at all - I had to pop up Character Map to see the difference. Then I tested it in VFP and you were correct.

>BTW, How are things in Christchurch? My wife and I did a whirlwind 3 week vacation doing NZ in '84 and loved it. You have a beautiful city and country. We keep threatening to do it again...

>>>>>Well, 231 is right. 135 is like a piece of picket fence stood on its side. But I don't know why the alt sequence gives you the wrong character.

>>>>The ALT sequence for 135 gives ç which is correct. It's when going reverse with the ASC function that it returns 231.

>>The reason my previous seemed kind of corny is that I seem to recall that if you are calling anything above the ASCII 1 table (0 -127), all is well; but in order to call anything from the extended ASCII set (128-255), you must be using a modifier to get there..... I cannot recall it all (been a busy day, already had some help from Sergey, again!!) but I will look it up tonight...
