Not really... It has happened many times in the past when MS tweaked code to prevent 3rd party products from competing against their software .
Microsoft's new interest in 'software security' doesn't envolve rewriting their apps to eliminate security holes. That would take too long and require too much money and effort. It would be easier to introduce an MS anti-virus product that had access to undocumented APIs, etc..., and to block traditional anti-virus methodologies.
