>Better have a swap file, even with all that RAM, Bucko! The swap file is used for more than just managing the active process memory, like a number of IPC mechanism which use the swap file to ensure a degree of safety while awaiting receipt.
Ed, Ed, Ed. I was being
facetious. Of course I have a swap file on that box (and a honkin' big one at that).
>Plenty of relatively inexpensive boxes are easily available that support 2 or 4 CPUs
Depending on what considers "relatively inexpensive", my quad box was a reasonable US$20K. All of the above, and it came with a 12 drive hot-swappable external RAID (which we're using on another box). Twenty large is a good bit of coin, but not bad for what we got.

See my original message. They get to play with 32 proc Unisys boxes.

There's no "nyah" to it. I have no need for cars. If I need a sheet of plywood, Home Depot will rent me a truck for US$20. :-)

So you're saying I shouldn't have bothered entering those fifteen bugs I found in the last two days? :-)
