Bruce,
The prior Hacker's is the ONLY book that I use exclusively on the PC, and that is for two reasons:
1) That is the only book I have come across where a good deal of work was applied to the .CHM to make it most palatable. No other book has even come close! If you will try out the .CHM you may well find that it is very useable.
2) The sheer size of the paper version made it very difficult to use/bring.
If you have had a look at the .CHM, can you tell me of any changes that may have been employed in it now that it os .CHM only?
of particular interest to me is was advantage of not printing used to put each command/function/etc on its pwn page, making liberal (sorry D.D.) use of of links to accomplish relating them. If they have done this then it should simplify reading of the syntax information as well as help the authors ensure that all are covered by examples.
Cheers
>I used the Hackers guide when I went to clients. It was the best reference in one volume. Taking chapter four out of the printed book makes it worthless to me. To add to my indignation is the bait and switch aspect of preordering only to find out later that the publisher has done me a great service by removing the most useful part of the book. Why didn't they print chapter four and put the remainder on chm for download.
