I've turn off my linux firewall. However, there could be an encrytion problem. For example, to telnet into my linux box I have to use a telnet client that handles SSl, Secure Socket Layer high encrytion. This could be the problem. However, everything works fine locally. I havn't been able to try to make a connection outside of the local network; although, I have been using www.smvfp.com as the ODBC Server which resolve to 68.15.242.103. Once you hit the router, you may be forwarded into the linux box with an IP of 192.168.1.1 which is the gateway. I have my pg_hba_conf file set to:

# By default, allow anything over UNIX domain sockets and localhost.
local        all                                           trust
host         all          192.168.1.78  255.255.255.255    trust
host         all          127.0.0.1     255.255.255.255    trust
host         all          192.168.1.1   255.255.255.255    trust

This is pretty broad and should allow everyone to log in.

You should be able to ping 68.15.242.103, so the break down appears to be between the satitic IP address and your computer. Time to break from lunch.
I'll investigate and get back to you this afternoon. If you want me to I could add your IP address to the pg_hba_conf file and see if that helps.
