It might be the economy as Ken mentioned. When the economy improves this area may change with it. That does not solve your problem though. I can only encourage you to keep trying and review your approach in every way possible. It might take something extreme like moving to “a hot bed of activity” and then applying for a job.

Get a cell phone with an area code for an area or two of interest while you are at home. At least you will have a “local” phone number for prospective employers. Just a thought. Perhaps not the best idea but - oh well. :)
