Mysql and VFP work wonderfully together. I have been doing that for over a year.

There are a few limits which mysql cant handle yet, (as apposed to oracle, mssql) but the advantages for going in a sql based server/ client over dbf's got my attention..

Last month I wrote an article on how to make the connection using odbc, over on foxtalk, but now you need to subscribe to read it (last month it was free) sorry. But I have published all my notes and code proceedures over on a yahoo group if you want it. here http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VFPMySql/

>Greetings to all! I'm owner of the VS6 Pro and mostly I'm working with VFP. As the situation demands no huge databases, I'm pretty satisfied with genuine VFP database and tables. Sometime, something different via ODBC. I'm interested to use MySQL database under some Windows environment instead DBC/DBF. How it works? I have some bad experiences from using ADO connection (no cursor as result of query, less uncomfortable than using DBC...) and I have fear that something like that could happen again? An Oracle and MS SQL Server are too expensive for me, because this is not for commercial purpose (for education is), due that MySQL seems good to me.

In the beginning, there was a command prompt, and all was well.
