Mike,
That 'developer' you're referring to doesn't mind being called by name: Peter de Valença (ç = alt+135). And the message was #644397. And what he/I stated was:

"One more thing: Professionals like you and me drive VFP to the limits. I think we have to, because the result must be of professional quality. I dare to state that I am confronted with bugs each week, if not each day! And each time it takes hours to find a workaround. Other people might say "well then.. find another language.. try Delphi for instance". But I don't expect people from MS to say that. They should feel sorry with us and do exactly what we do when one of our customers reports a bug: Take it seriously and do whatever they can (work hard!) to solve the bug."

So, I stated that I'm CONFRONTED with bugs each week, if not each day. I wasn't claiming that I DISCOVER bugs each week/day. Certain bugs I'm confronted with each week, or occasionally each day, (same as Walter claims) and it's not always easy to find or accept the workaround. But I'm also dead serious when I claim that AT TIMES I'm confronted with unknown bugs one day after the other. It are the times that I'm trying to accomplish things I've never done before, that I'm exploring areas of VFP I've never been before. Currently I'm very busy with the making of a shareware program. I can tell you that it's a lot of work to produce a program that's stable and professional enough to be distributed as shareware. What I produce MUST be stable and MUST be professional and MUST be functional enough. If it's not ALL of these, it has no chance at all in the shareware market.

Okay, let me soften my statement about being confronted with bugs. What I frequently call bugs, aren't always bugs in the eyes of others. They might occasionally call it a quirck, or they might state it's all 'by design'. But a design can stink too.. you know that, don't you?

Whatever, I love VFP, but there are times that I have ugly words come up in my mind about VFP... I'm sure a lot of other people know what I'm talking about.
Groet,
Peter de Valença

Let's develop superb standards that will end the holy wars.
