>It seems me that the impressions people are getting is that VFP8 will be released fairly soon, however, if I remember correctly, there was at least a 2-3 year gap in between VFP6 and VFP7 being "announced", how come VFP8 is being disclosed so soon to us when quite a few of us haven't even upgraded to VFP7 yet? I understand it is probably your goal to get most people into VFP7 first though.

I'm not sure what gave you this incorrect assumption. Toledo (code name for the next version of VFP) is being developed at Microsoft now, but is not close to being released, and it has not even started going into beta. So there is no reason to skip upgrading to VFP7 waiting for Toledo. I cannot give specific dates, but it is certainly not soon. What I am doing is simply disclosing a "few" features in Toledo so people have an idea of what we are doing with VFP. Most features will not be disclosed. To be honest, some people question the future of VFP at Microsoft so showing people some new features implemented and working in the next version of VFP helps them be assured that Microsoft is committed to released another full version of VFP which we are. That is the primary reason I show "some" new features of Toledo well before it is released, not because it will be released soon. Hope this clarifies things a bit for you and others.
