The error "Not a Character Expression" is a DOS error.

On the shortcut:
Cmd line-f:\revenue\commer\rstart.ext
Working-f:\revenue\commer
Same as the previous short-cut

I'm not sure what you mean about c:\windows\config.nt.
I have c:\winnt\config with 3 *idf files in it.
