Hotmail has a feature to choose to recieve mail only from people on your address list. Everything else is supposed to go into the junk box.

I'm not sure how well it works.

Also, NEVER reply to unsolicited e-mail that tells you to reply to opt out. As others have said, it just confirms a live e-mail address.
