Hello Igor and all:

>PixTools/EZ from PixelTranslations have "duplex" property, so you can change it programmatically. This tool is not cheap though.

Yes, I'm trying to avoid that! The only function I need is more control of the scanner. I'm using Pegasus tools for a couple of other things, so I may buy their $149 TwainPro product.

The Professional version of the Kodak OCX had more control too, but it was pricey, and lately I can't find my way through the maze of weird web pages to find out who the heck actually owns and sells the product, if anyone.

Nope -- they stay for other apps, but not for my Foxpro app. So, I'm guessing that the Win2000 version of the Kodak OCX, when I invoke the "reset" function, either explicitly changes the settings, or "reset" tells the scanner to go back to Simplex mode.

I'm going to try NOT resetting the scanner as I enter my program, and I'm also going to see if I can find the Registry entries where these settings go, and restrict access to them so regular users (and my Foxpro program) won't be able to mess them up.

Cheers,

Kevin
