I would think that it is the "Reset" function that makes your scanner settings to go Default.
Then KodakImagingActiveX keeps your scanner settings in ini file rather than in registry:
c:\windows\setscan.ini

Thanks for the link. I visited Pegasus website and found out their prof. version expensive too: $999.
