Our school district had enough backbone to reject a Federal grant because of what it meant they would have to do. The negligible percentage that the district would get via Federal funds was not worth the hassle plus the requrements were anti-family at best. I would settle for just abolishing the Federal Dept of [no]Education and return that money to the school districts in the form of tax cuts. The billions saved by getting rid of that insidious department would go a long way toward improving our education system. The more local the better. Then once we take that step and people start seeing results, hopefully more momentum will have been established to take further steps toward privatization.

As long as Unions and/or Government [i.e., no competition] are in control [and this can be said for anything, not just Education], quality will suffer and costs will sky-rocket.
