>I don't want this question to sound silly, but I have to ask. Do you have a environment variable called TEMP set up? Usually this is in the old autoexec.bat file in anything less than NT. In NT, you have to go under the system control panel applet to see what the environment settings are.

I would try to assign SET TEMP=C:\TEMP (or whereever you want) and make sure that directory does in fact exist and you have full access rights to that directory.

TEMP is correctly setup to c:\windows\temp. The temp files are in the main Windows folder - not %TEMP%. It seems that some program - or Windows itself - isn't respecting that setting. Nor is it cleaning up after itself.
