If you have Visual Studio 6 or VFP 7.0 MSDE came in the box. This is an equivelent tool to use to prototype and or develop a SQL Server ap. You can also get a 90 day trial of SQL Server 2000 from MS. At least I think they are still offering it.

Bit wary about transporting the code to allow this as my experience with SQL server isn't great. Not sure if we even have a copy lying around the office. I will probably try sourcing some literature on this process before embarking on this route.
