Hi!

Thanks, Fernando! I do not have a real ideas about the new grid control that would be good to have in VFP. I have a lot of ideas to create a suer-grid class. I guess when I compile them all with taking into account that it could be the new VFP component written in C++ by MS VFP team, it is not hard to formulate this. Anyway, this is a significant piece of work, and I just feel confused and unsure if this is needed at all. As I already said, its extremely hard to get any information from MS about what is worth to do and what is not worth to do at all. I afraid I will write down the requirements specifiation, and then throw it away because it is not needed at all or just ignored by MS.

>First of all let me thank you for your words. Comming from a recognized expert on the subject in question and, as I could see, agreeing that we're are needing something better than the grid control we have now, I feel that I'm not the only one having problems, and disliking the grid <s>
>
>>My personal opinion about all this is not very optimistic. There are 3 options in relation to grids:
>
>>- persuade MS VFP team to improve grid control or create a new one that is better.
>>- write a book about VFP grid and describe many things from the VFP community experience and personal authors' experience
>>- create a super-grid component that will contain a lot of features.
>
>I vote for a new one, that could fullfil most of developers needs, not just the sofisticated ones, but those simple things that are cumbersome and/or tedious to do.
>
>>About the book - it is not clear how many people will read it...
>
>As you said, I think that a book not containing a list of properties and methods related to the grid and some more, but rather describing apps implementation techniques using grids, would be very usefull.
>
>>Also, it would be good to have some sort of survey to get the opinion of many VFP community folks. Yet I see no more than 10 people opinions, that is not enough, of course.
>
>Perhaps just 10 people (maybe some more) are not satisfied with the grid :))
>
>>Any suggestions now? Any advise where to go and what to do now, or should we do this at all? Maybe, leave the food for such sites as Universal Thread, so users will just ask about grids here and thats all? This might be the forth option ;))) <vbg>
>
>First of all, IMO, see if folks agree with both ideas (a new grid and a book) then, as Mike Helland suggested, work on the idea of the new grid and try to get VFP team's attention to it. If you ever will need any help (to review, test, suggest, bother...) count on me!

The professional level of programmer could be determined by level of stupidity of his/her bugs

It is not appropriate to say that question is "foolish". There could be only foolish answers. Everybody passed period of time when knows nothing about something.
