Thanks, guys - but I was really looking for a pre-built machine with easy browser-based setup and one-button backups. Something like a SNAP server with tape backup. I didn't really want to build it myself.
I recall seeing at least a half dozen of those things offered not more than 2 years ago!
>>I seem to recall a surge of reviews on workgroup oriented pre-built servers (with backup tape included) based on Linux - but now I can't find too many options.

>>A small client of mine needs more disk space so I wanna suppliment their existing NT server with a Linux box for file sharing. I know buying backup software to handle their existing NT server PLUS the supplimental server would be expensive (gawd) so I'm looking for a machine with it's own backups.

>>Recommendations welcomed.... Machine and/or multi-server backup software.

>Actually, RH, Mandrake and SuSE come with groupware apps as part of their distro, but you may want to check out php first and use it as a base to compare both Open Source GPL offerings and commercial offerings. Do a search on Google using "linux groupware server" to find tons of links.
