NewKey is in the stored procedures of the DBC, doesn't that mean the DBC is bigger? Were you not complaining about DBC size because of RI in another post?

Besides, this approach is an alternative to a native autoincrement feature, since there hasn't been one. I'd welcome another method. After all VFP is all about having several ways to do things <g>
