>NewKey is in the stored procedures of the DBC, doesn't that mean the DBC is bigger? Were you not complaining about DBC size because of RI in another post?
The NewKey() function takes only 17 lines of code. It is nothing compared to the waste of space caused by the RI builder. Having it in the stored procedure is giving you the advantage you can used it in Tables for PKs, local and remote views for PKs or any other (incremental) numbering entity, without the database beeing dependant on code outside the database. In this way it is also usefull for other application hooking into this database either natively or via ODBC.
