Mike,

>>Kids today typically have no idea whatsoever about life's pressures.

>Go down to an urban high school and ask a kid if he's ever been shot at. Its amazing what they consider apart of everyday life.

No offense Mike but you don't have a clue.

Think about the kids in Britain during WWII where a buzz bomb could blow them up. Being shot is is certainly no fun, nor should it happen, but that's nothing historically. Go over to the Sudan today and watch your mother be raped because she's a Christian and then get sold into slavery and I'll start to think you 'get it'.

>>Today's children for the most part don't have a clue IMO of what a tough life is.
>
>Oh... and you did?

I specifically stated that I idn't think my experiences warranted sufficiantly to allow me to make this assertion.

>Your elders woudl sit around ripping you apart for calling what you called "hard times".

If I did this you'd be absolutely correct as would they.

>Your grandparents probably had no idea what was killing off the people of their time. No idea where food would come from that night. No idea how to build the cabin they had to in order to survive.

Ohh.. So they were more stupid then? <g> Wow.. You really don't have an idea. Go check out the curricula of those times in the schools and I'll bet you dinner they knew more than almost ALL of today's poor picked on kids.

Folks back then were far closer to the daily quest for survival than today.

>You can sit around all day and play this little "I'm more grizzeled than you are" but you're still compeltely unaware of whats happening here.

*chuckle*

And you can continue to deceive yourself by believeing that what you know is the sum total of what can be known and if someone contradicts you they MUST be wrong - since what they say isn't in your knowledge base.

You forget that my wife is a public school teacher and I hear what's going on out there every day. Almost all of the problems the school children have these days is a direct result of irresponsible, uneducated or uncaring parents. Not all but far more than half.

But since you're a young know-it-all I suppose you already knew this. <g>

I'll accept your apology in about 20 years. < BG >
Best,
