I am not advocating that people *move* in a wholesale basis anywhere. Rather, I am saying that people should give a serious look at dotNET as a way of augmenting their toolbox. My opinion is a counter to those who say to sit by and wait. Sometimes, sitting by and waiting is a good idea, given that there are good articulable reasons for doing so. YOu, Steve, or Mike for that matter have put forth rational reasons.
What to do is not predicated so much by where dotNET is. Rather, it is predicated on where VFP is. Your little corner of the world may be fine. To every rule, there are exceptions. In this case, if the rule does not apply, simply ignore what I am saying and move on.
History has shown that Fox developers that embraced ADO, VB, VBA and especially VFP when it was released in 1995 were rewarded for the investments they made in their skillsets.
IMO, the next logical step for those VFP developers who are confronted with the need to make a choice is dotNET and specifcally, the VB .NET langauge. You may not be confronted with the need to make a choice. I think it is clear that many are confronted with the need to make a choice. Again, if you don't like the message, ignore it. Or, counter it with something a little more robust than saying that I am simply wrong.
As for being stupid, I would propose two things to you. First, don't presume to speak for others and two, don't ask a question when you don't know the answer...
