Hi Dean,
I was in a VB vs. VFP situation back when VFP 3.0 was the latest version. (I think I was up against VB 5.0). I challenged the top VB guy in the shop to a competition. The deal was to take the functional spec for a job we were doing and start from scratch. At the end of the day, we'd compare apps. No wizards, procedure libraries or class libraries allowed on either side.
The VB guy pushed his chair back and said, "There's no way I can code it faster in VB. You have a data engine built in." That pretty much settled it at my shop. We didn't switch to VFP, but we didn't get rid of it either.
If you're convinced that you're better off with VFP, tell the decision maker you're willing to prove it. I still pull this challenge out of my pocket when I show up in a VB shop where they poo-poo VFP. I haven't had a taker yet.
