>BTW.. I started then too. Well, actually, I had a neighbor who had one of his ham radio buddies send me a message on his teletype. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven! Send me a message from somwhere else in the world!?!?! Wow!!! <g> And ring the bell too??!!?? LOL!!
Doug;
My radio amateur call sign is WA6FCO. Teletype and slow scan TV were interests of mine. I had two teletype machines and if you ran both on the same 15 amp circuit it would blow the fuse! It was fun using as we called it RTTY. Radio teletype. Man that bell was loud! 60 words per minute.
By the way I designed a very nice RTTY converter using IC's in 1969. It cost me over $500 to design and build. One year later a guy brought out a kit for $49.99 - with all parts and board - using the same IC's! Oh well,I was one year ahead of the rest and had a few unique features. Engineering and ham radio - lord what a combination! Now it is engineering and computers for me. You should see the new computer I am building - with audio recording in mind. Now I can really have some fun recording my flamenco guitar music! :)
