Yes, it'll open database when you open table because table exists seprately from it and has backlink to the DBC. A view exists in the DBC only and is invisble for VFP until DBC is open.
Yes, you can create index on view as you would on cursor or table.

>I thought the dbc would open automatically, because when try to access stuff from a table or views in other forms I never had to open dbc, I guess when I have to open view I have to explicitly open the dbc. However I tried you suggestion and it seemed to solve the problem. I was wondering, is there a way to create an index on a view, the reason why I ask is if I wanted to use seek command, it seems to require a index? Thanks you very much for your help Sergey.
