George,
Very well put on all counts.
I'll just add that no one at Microsoft has ever told me what I can or can not say about a released product. There are plenty of times that I've discussed faults in the product in the various online communities. A lot of times these discussions involve finding workaround solutions to the fault. I really do believe that VFP is in fact one of the most bug free languages I've used.
I can't tell you how much time I've wasted tracking down compiler optimization induced bugs back when I was doing a lot of C/C++ coding. These always involved finding the optimization that was causing the error and turning it off. I'm grateful for not having to deal with this level of problem anymore.
> What is of specific concern here is the fact that, as an MVP, I have a “hidden agenda”. That because I’ve been honored by Microsoft that I’m “in their pocket”, their “shill”, and as David Frankenbach put it, a “sycophant”. Fundamentally, this is an insult. It is an insult, because in trying to be helpful and point out that there may be a reason behind a problem other than simply a bug, we don’t concur with people who are predisposed to think otherwise. I won’t speak for David, but I’m sure that his experience is the same as mine. I have never once been told by Microsoft not to speak negatively about them.
