The issue I have is that this sort of thing burns off newbies. Imagine if you were considering starting VFP and you walked into a thread where somebody was shooting the product down with obvious and determined relish. We need people like SB, MH et al to point out that the Emperor is not wearing a magnificent robe but a clown suit.

I'm remembering what happened in 1994-5 when a certain JW was equally certain that FP was dead and adopted similar tactics. We ignored him but all that happened was that a huge stock of unrebutted "evidence" began building up, then he began quoting "unrebutted" proofs. Better to get in straight away. The only difference I see is that JW was anti-Microsoft. JW also advocated a soon-to-be-dead tool, in that case it was dBase rather than VB6.

Then there was another fellow called FP who also called people sluts, told them they were stupid, and generally threw his weight around because he thought he was better than everybody else. The only difference I see is that the word is now "whore" rather than "slut". Neither is particularly appropriate but that's the way these people think.

I guess I'm trying to learn from history, you can't appease a dictator you have to respond firmly.

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
