John,

I totaly agree with your comments...It's just that, with JVP, the more you respond the more he goes on. At one time I couldn't wait until the latest issue of Foxtalk or VFP advisor came out because I knew JVP had something relevant to say...It's obvious he no longer does, at least as far as I'm concerned, so I no longer choose to listen.

True the newbies will see the comments and such, and maybe that's what he's after. If that's the case I support any and all that go against him. I have 3 "newbies" employed with my company....I have explained to them all who JVP is, what he has contributed to VFP and what he has not. (We still use some of his old examples in VFP) So far, anyway, they agree with me. They are college graduates who are just learing VFP, and love it..."Why wasn't this tought to us in school" is the comment I most often hear. They spent 4 years in C and VB to find that when they went to work the "productive" language made them the most money in the shortest time.

If everyone would simply NOT reply....maybe he would just go away and practice law in PA. He's better than us, you know.....

>The issue I have is that this sort of thing burns off newbies. Imagine if you were considering starting VFP and you walked into a thread where somebody was shooting the product down with obvious and determined relish. We need people like SB, MH et al to point out that the Emperor is not wearing a magnificent robe but a clown suit.

We ignored him but all that happened was that a huge stock of unrebutted "evidence" began building up, then he began quoting "unrebutted" proofs. Better to get in straight away. The only difference I see is that JW was anti-Microsoft. JW also advocated a soon-to-be-dead tool, in that case it was dBase rather than VB6.

>Then there was another fellow called FP who also called people sluts, told them they were stupid, and generally threw his weight around because he thought he was better than everybody else. The only difference I see is that the word is now "whore" rather than "slut". Neither is particularly appropriate but that's the way these people think.
