>I take it that you are using the standard Combo Box that comes with VFP 6.0
I started out using my own partial matching combo box but changed to the standard combo box when I started to hit problems. I found the same problems in the standard combobox:(
I will try and track down that book you mentioned.
I think in future I will try to emulate the practise you describe and provide a seperate editing form. This would be more convenient for hanging validation off as well. I have spent hundreds of hours trying to get grids to do what I want.
I could also give users an ADD button on the editing form and so avoid having to mess my main form up with an Add button just for the grid.
Yep you have converted me..From now on I will only use Grids for selecting items.

>I should comment that I have stopped the practice of overloading my grids with stuff like combo boxes. As a standard, I no longer permit editing in my grids. Instead, I give them an button that takes the row of the grid and puts the fields into Edit format. Here you can have combo boxes, links to Calendars, option groups etc. in a much more stable environment that seems to be easier for the operator to complete. The edit screen has "Back" and "Next" buttons so they can stay in the edit environment as long as they want.
