This is the exact same reason I switched to Crystal in my one application. There was no way to do the required report in the native VFP report writer.
Since then, I did figure out a way that it could be done in pure VFP, but the complexity of the solution still makes Crystal the better choice. I could generate each section of my report seperately and combine it into a text file and then print out only the final result. Way too complicated, if you ask me.
My latest app is using SQL Server for the data store (the other one was native VFP tables), and again I am using Crystal with great success. This time I am repalcing a proprietary labelling software package with simple Crystal reports.
