Well, well... learn something every day. I thought that if it does automatically recreate it at runtime, that it does so at design time - but it doesn't. I just saved a class - a form with a grid, and column2 had no currentcontrol at all, just header. I did that with a blank grid - no recordsource, no non-default properties, just 5 columns. I figure your grid is probably too different from standard to go back and try to revert one by one property to default just to see what makes it refuse to delete a textbox.
