Hi Jerry,

I decided to try and uninstall openSSl around 2 AM last night. If possible, I wanted to put apache back to the way it worked before I installed openSSL. When I selected the uninstall from the RedHat 7.3 rpm interface, I was warned about a number of dependencies, but I proceeded with the uninstall just to see if it was possible. After uninstall the tree openSSL packages, I rebooted my system. Service started failing all over the place. When the login finally appear, I try to login to the kde destop, but was not able to do so. OpenSSL may be one of the reasons your linux doesn't allow a full install.

I did a clean install of RH7.3, but this time I selected which packages/services to install. I cut the size of the install down from 3.5 gig to 2.5 gig. I did not install anything having to do with SSL. After the install, I was able to bring up the system normally.

I configure the network so I could access the internet and test to see if there is a problem access my site from outside. I was not able to to connect on the quick try. It was a little after 5 AM this morning when I decided to call it day and get some sleep. I will be busy for awhile because I need to set everything back up including sendmail, postgres, httpd, samba, etc. but I will keep you informed. In the mean time my site will be down.

Thanks,
Leland F. Jackson, CPA
