I've been trying several browsers recently, and here are some of my observations:
Netscape 4.x - discontinued but still a great performer. Keep a copy around just in case.
Netscape 6 - too bloated, slow and too many AOL ads. Still too buggy.
Opera - Great in Windows (what I am using right now) but still not ready for prime time in Linux. Lacks features the WinXX version has.
Mozilla - The 1.0 release is SLOOOWW opening (fixed in just releases 1.1a, along with 1,700 other bugs), but after it fills the screen it is very quick and does well with all the sites I've visited. Browser only available.
Galeon - I saw a copy on my recently installed Mandrake 8.2 distro and decided to give it a try. SUPRISE! IMO, it is, currently, the best browser available on Linux. Quick opening, Light, fast and everything works. Even all of the Crossoverr plugins and RealPlayer8.
It is nice to have a choice!
