>I've been trying several browsers recently, and here are some of my observations:
>
>Netscape 4.x - discontinued but still a great performer. Keep a copy around just in case.
>
>Netscape 6 - too bloated, slow and too many AOL ads. Still too buggy.
>
>Opera - Great in Windows (what I am using right now) but still not ready for prime time in Linux. Lacks features the WinXX version has.

>Mozilla - The 1.0 release is SLOOOWW opening (fixed in just releases 1.1a, along with 1,700 other bugs), but after it fills the screen it is very quick and does well with all the sites I've visited. Browser only available.
ERATTA - 1.1a is faster coming up to the form, but the first website visit is very slow. So, about 60 secons from clicking on the icon, till the first webpage shows. After that is seems fast enough. This is probably whey the have an option to keep the engine in memory and on the system tray, ready for quicker response. When I said "Browser only available" I didn't mean that the only version available was a browser only version. What I meant was that besides the usual browser, mail and & reader version you can install it as just a browser, without the other features. If my fingers would only learn to type what I mean and not what.....

>Galeon - I saw a copy on my recently installed Mandrake 8.2 distro and decided to give it a try. SUPRISE! IMO, it is, currently, the best browser available on Linux. Quick opening, Light, fast and everything works. Even all of the Crossoverr plugins and RealPlayer8.
