>I have two tables. The main table is a list of names with no dates. The second table is a list of activities by names with dates. I link the two tables using a left outer join so I list all of the names from the first table whether they have an activity or not. The problem is, I want to restrict the report to only show a certain date range of activities, but when I put a date range in record selection it only shows the names on the report that have an activity, not all the names are shown. I want to show all the names so that I can show names with zero activity for instance, but at the same time I want to show activities for a certain date range.

I'm assuming that you will be using report parameter fields for the dates. Try supressing the date fields if they don't fall in the range.
