>>No, I don't think a session from a non-microsoft person on this subject would really be seen as valuable. There's is an interesting "catch 22" here. Only Microsoft can answer this question and no one believes what Microsoft says on the subject. Its sort of a lose-lose situation, no matter what MS says or does they lose.

They chose it because they were told or had the impression that VB should be used to do anything.

From this discussion I have an acorn of an idea, which others can build and grow, if desired.

----- (1) What if a section of the UT was devoted to " WHAT PROGRAMMING TOOL SHOULD YOU USE ? "

------ (2) The section would be clearly marked as being for end clients who wanted feedback on possible development
tools and environments.

------- (3) End clients would be invited to present outlines of their plans, and UT members would try to respond or
bring up pointers to considerations.

------- (4) Some sort of advertising campaign (perhaps with joint participation with MS) might help to make end-clients aware of the section.

------- (5) Benefits could include: End-clients would be starting up conversations with developers and programmers.
People might be able to make better choices, avoid big mistakes, and save money.
The influence of the UT would expand into new areas (inclusive of end-clients and programmers, both).

And so on.

It might work..... It might help.....
Of course, it might not work.... Sure, it might not help.....
Okay, forget it....
Wait a minute, do I have to give up that fast???!!!???
