I'm afraid that I dont understand the WORK/TEMP/SORTWK files you mentioned. All the system is sitting on the server, there are no deleted record indexes, and I have not discovered whether there any hidden bottlenecks on their network.

What I am trying to find out is, irrespective of this particular experience, should a VFP app run reasonably well over a 512 K fixed link neywork, with the server at one end and the user PC at the other?

Any ideas on this question?
